Update: Minocqua Police report the arrest of a minor in relation to the LUHS threat. (2/17)

Both Lakeland Union High School  and Rhinelander schools were affected by threats Friday.

After the discovery of a note and other information, Lakeland schools in Minocqua canceled some planned activity and only about a third of the student body reported for school. An investigation into who left the threat has begun. A message in the girls bathroom was left on two different occasions according to reports.

Rhinelander officials say Friday morning, a note was discovered on a boys' restroom stall wall which was not specific and somewhat unclear, but administration immediately considered it a potential threat. At no time was there an imminent threat in the high school or any other school building. Law enforcement's investigation at Rhinelander high school went smoothly and confirmed that students were not in any danger. Other than the daily lockdown of the building's exterior doors, no additional interior lock-down was necessary.
